5th day: Friday

When we woke up today we went to the high school in Denain. There we met some entrepreneurs who talked about their businesses and experience, and how to create an enterprise.

Then we presented the business project that we created on Wednesday, they asked some questions and gave their opinion about the different projects.

After eating at the canteen we visited the Art Museum of Valenciennes and went for a last walk around the city.

At night the students of vocational training at the Lyceé Jurenil prepared typical French dishes; we had dinner all together, danced and laughed till it was time to say goodbye.

Hoy por la mañana cuando nos levantamos fuimos al instituto a Denain. Allí, unos emprendedores nos dieron una charla sobre su experiencia y sobre sus empresas y la forma correcta de montar una empresas. Luego expusimos un proyecto que hicimos el miércoles, y los emprendedores nos dieron su opinión y nos hicieron preguntas sobre el.

Después de comer fuimos a Valenciens al museo, los profesores nos dejaron verlo por nuestra cuenta, y cuando acabáramos podíamos irnos, ya que hasta las 5 tuvimos tiempo libre.

A la noche fuimos a cenar al instituto en Denain, porque los franceses nos habían hecho la cena. Luego de la cena pusimos música y hicimos una pequeña fiesta. Al final nos despedimos y cogimos el bus hacia Valenciens.

4th day: Thursday

Today it’s Thursday and we went to Lille.

We woke up at 7:30 to collect our colleagues in Denain at 8:30 and leave. It was long trip! We visited the city with a guided tour to the old city.

At noon we ate a sandwich and spend our free time visiting some the Euro Lille mall and some shops in the city center.

In the afternoon we went to an exhibition in an old railway station about the rebirth of cities after the crises.

On our way back to Valenciennes we sang and laughed in the bus. We had dinner in an auto service restaurant and arrived at the hotel around 20:30.

It’s been a funny day!

Hoy es jueves, el día en el que fuimos a Lille. Nos despertamos sobre las 7:30 para salir para Denain a recoger a los estudiantes franceses a las 8:30 e irnos directamente a Lille. El viaje de ida se hizo un poco lenta; y nada más llegar allí fuimos a la oficina de turismo para que nos hicieran un tour por la ciudad, de la cual nos enseñaron la plaza principal, la catedral y algunas tiendas conocidas de la ciudad.

Luego tuvimos tiempo libre hasta las 3:10 y fuimos hasta la 1:30 hasta el centro comercial de Lille donde comimos y después de esa hora nos fuimos al centro de la ciudad.

Cuando se acabó nuestro tiempo libre nos fuimos a un "museo" en la cual había una exposición sobre Detroit; y antes de entrar en la exposición todos los chicos estaban jugando al tenis.

Al acabar nos fuimos a dejar a los franceses a Denain, este viaje fue bastante divertido ya que estuvimos cantando, gritando y riéndonos en el bus; al dejarlos fuimos a cenar a un centro comercial pequeño cerca de Valenciennes y nos fuimos al hotel.

Se podría decir que ha sido un día bastante divertido.

3rd day: Wednesday

This morning we met in the high school for a workshop to create our own enterprise. To break the ice the first activity was to create a tower just with sixteen paper sheets. The group with the highest tower will win.

We only had eight minutes to create a tower of paper.

Then we went to the canteen to eat and a French student sat with us at the table. We were surprised because there was such a few people at the canteen. He told us that on Wednesday classes finished at noon and students went back home.

After eating we presented our work about the recent industrial past of our countries.

We presented a very interesting information about Spain industrial past.

 Then we went to the computers room to practice foreign languages with Voki.

Then we met our French colleagues to expend the rest of the afternoon with them and their families and dine with them.

It was a very interesting and funny day.

Esta mañana tuvimos una charla en el instituto,en la que creamos nuestra propia empresa.Una de las actividades que más me sorprendió fue una en la que tuvimos que hacer una torre con papeles, en la cual ganaría la torre más alta.

Más tarde fuimos a comer y un alumno francés se sentó en nuestra mesa.Le dijimos que nos había sorprendido mucho la poca gente que había en el comedor y nos dijo que el miércoles las clases acababan antes y los alumnos se iban a su casa.

Después de comer cada pais presentó su trabajo sobre el pasado industrial reciente y fuimos a la sala de ordenadores a practicar lenguas extranjeras con Voki.

Después nos fuimos cada persona con una familia y pasamos la tarde con ella.

Fue un día muy interesante y divertido.

2nd day: Tuesday

This morning we caught a tram to the high school. We divided in small groups and attended different classes. With the French students we looked for differences between the French and Spanish Educational systems. The most surprising was that the Spaniards in the classroom had better English level than the Frenchs although they were one year older. They were really impressed.

After that we gathered again to create the project logo, we presented our ideas and picked up the best.

 

And the winner is...

We ate at the canteen and in the afternoon an entrepreneur visited us to talk about her business and her experience. It was very interesting but too long.

 

A girl on her thirties decided to work on her own as translator.

After that we went back to Valenciennes by tram and spent some free time in the city center. We had diner in a typical French restaurant. It was very different to what we are used to. At the tables we were mixed with other students from Germany and Bulgary. It was a good opportunity to know each other better.

Esta mañana cogimos un tranvía directamente hasta el colegio. Allí nos dividieron en pequeños grupos en diferentes clases. Buscamos junto con los alumnos franceses diferencias entre el sistema escolar entre España y Francia. Lo más sorprendente fue que teníamos mejor nivel que ellos y, aunque tenían un año más, se quedaron impresionados.

Después fuimos a hacer un logo para este proyecto; mostramos nuestras ideas y al final votamos al ganador. Cominos en el comedor y por la tarde nos visitaron unas emprendedoras para hablar de su negocio. Fue muy interesante, pero bastante largo.

Cuando ya era de noche volvimos a Valenciennes en tranvía y tuvimos tiempo libre por la ciudad. Por la noche cenamos en un restaurante de comida típica francesa. Era muy diferente a lo que estamos acostumbrados. Nos sentamos mezclados por países y así  pudimos conocernos mejor.

1st day: Monday

At first time in the morning we left our hotel with the students and teachers from Germany and Bulgary to meet our host at Lyceé Mousseron, in Denain.

We developed some activities to know each other. That's when our skills in foreign languages come in our help. They were really helpful.

At noon, we ate at the high school canteen and visited the museum of minery, located in an ancient mine.

When we finished French, teachers guided us in an introductory visit to Valenciennes. After that we ended our day having diner all together in a restaurant close to the hotel.

A primera hora de la mañana, salimos del hotel con los alumnos y profesores de Alemania y Bulgaria para reunirnos en el Lyceé Mousseron de Denain con nuestros anfitriones. 

En el instituto nos recibieron los alumnos y profesores franceses con las banderas de nuestros países decorando el recibidor. Después nos reunimos por grupos todos los países y por medio de un juego nos conocimos mejor. Fue el momento de poner a prueba nuestros conocimiento de idiomas.
Después de tomarnos un aperitivo nos fuimos a comer a la cantina del instituto.

Al terminar de comer nos llevaron a un museo sobre la minería en una antigua mina y nos enseñaron el interior de las galerías. 

Por la tarde los profesores franceses nos llevaron a ver Valenciennes y nos explicaron un poco su historia. Terminamos la jornada cenando todos juntos en un restaurante de la zona.

Nous sommes arrivés

After a hard day's trip we arrived at Valenciennes, where we met our collegues and friends from France, Germany and Bulgary. Regretfully the Croatian and Romanians couldn't make it; their governments and national agencies recommended ,not to travel to Brussels.

At Charles De Gaulle Airport, while we descended from the plane we could contemplate the silhouette of the Concorde, the famous first commercial supersonic plane.

We commuted from Charles de Gaulle airport to the TGV railway station to catch the train to Lille. It was a beautiful day, but short. As we travelled to Lille the sun was setting in the horizon.

So here we are, at Valenciennes, hosted in one of the most popular and typical hotels in France. The weather is cold and wet, but it's warm inside.

Tras un duro día de viaje llegamos a Valenciennes, donde nos encontramos con nuestros colegas alemanes, franceses y búlgaros. Lamentablemente los croatas y rumanos no viajaron pues sus gobiernos y agencias nacionales desaconsejaron el viaje.
Al bajar del avión pudimos contemplar la silueta del Concorde, el primer avión comercial supersónico.

Desde el aeropuerto nos dirigimos a la estación de tren para coger el tren a Lille. Desde la ventama vimos como se iba poniendo el sol. Así que aquí estamos, en Valenciennes instalado e uno de los hoteles más característicos y populares de Francia. El tiempo es frío y húmedo pero dentro se está bien.
